We are expanding and are looking for an additional experienced mechanic for our Harbour Crane Services department, which mainly works on harbour cranes and overhead cranes. You will work on a variety of exceptional and heavy mechanical projects. No two days are ever the same.

Your tasks as a Mechanic:

• Carrying out (preventive) maintenance on large-scale machinery within the framework of maintenance contracts (e.g. lubrication, replacing bearings and brake shoes, changing the cable of a 700-tonne crane, disconnecting a transformer, etc.).
  
• Repairing heavy equipment (e.g. replacing gears from 2-tonne gearboxes and repairing them if necessary), repairing electric motors (other than that, there is little motor technology involved), etc. Our workshop in Zwijndrecht is sometimes used for this purpose. Equipment is also processed there (using a lathe, fire and welding techniques (construction welding), etc.).
  
• Correctly installing new, large-scale equipment (e.g. installation of a 34-metre overhead crane, bolting structures, etc.).
  

You achieve all this in a team, led by a foreman. He/she guides you and you can always rely on him/her. You will usually go to a customer location with a team consisting of 2-3 people. Occasionally you work in a larger group on larger projects.

Your profile

• You have experience as a mechanic (ideally mechanical experience with harbour cranes or overhead cranes).
  
• You are able to work with an aerial work platform and you have experience securing loads.
• An asset (but not mandatory): knowledge of electricity and hydraulics, safety certificate (VCA), certificate for securing critical loads (IS-006), forklift certificate (IS-001), aerial work platform certificate (IS-005) and/or overhead crane certificate (IS-011).
• You are not afraid of working at height.
• You are not afraid to get your hands dirty. It is physically demanding work (e.g. moving chain blocks).
• You are a team player.
• Safety is your number 1 priority.
• You adopt a flexible attitude towards tasks and working hours (e.g. we sometimes work in shifts, and we employ a call system for some customers).
• You are fluent in Dutch (speaking and reading). Knowledge of other languages is an asset.
• You have a B driving licence.
