Power and Precision: The SBL500 in Action

Samoco recently removed a damaged 50-tonne silo using the advanced SBL500, a 500-tonne gantry. This operation not only demonstrated the versatility and power of the SBL500, but also the strategic expertise in performing complex lifting and moving tasks in challenging conditions.

The site occupied by the damaged silo was located where the use of traditional cranes or above-ground structures was impossible. Removing such a structure required a solution that was both powerful and precise, ensuring maximum safety for workers and the environment.

Successful removal

On the first day of the operation we removed the pipe from under the silo and placed it on the ground using a crane truck. We subsequently unloaded our lift system from our low loaders using a 9-tonne forklift and built the lifting system under the silo. The silo was spanned with our lifting system to ensure stability and safety.

The second day started with burning away the silo’s fasteners. Afterwards, we used our lifting system to lift the free-standing silo approximately 30 cm. The silo was then hoisted using the mobile crane supplied by the client. We provided assistance in lifting and placing the silo on the ground. Finally, we disassembled and loaded our lifting system.

Thanks to the efforts of our employees & the SBL500 gantry we were able to successfully and safely remove the damaged silo.
